A bike is tied to the riders on it: if the best riders are on the new bike, part of the advantage is theirs.
How it’s calculated
For each full race since 2024 and each bike (for example GP24, GP25, RS-GP25, KTM 2025), full-time riders only: substitutes and wildcards are left out. Each rider’s bike comes from a reference file checked by hand against sources. Each rider’s pace is the median of their clean laps, excluding the first two and the last two. For each bike we give the pace of its fastest rider and the median of its riders, as a % above the best pace of the whole race: comparing within the same race cancels out the circuit, the day and the track conditions. Also the best qualifying lap and the top speed. When you pick a reference bike, each cell is the difference between each bike and that one.
Keep in mind. A bike is tied to the riders on it: if the best riders are on the new bike, part of the advantage is theirs. With 1 or 2 riders per bike the figure is not very representative. Across different years, compare seconds with care: tyres, asphalt and temperature change (we show it alongside). Wet races are kept separate.
